Happy Valentine’s Day & Romantic Vibes

February 14, 2017

Happy Valentine's Day & Romantic Vibes Hello, loves! Happy Valentine’s Day!
I’m not going to lie and say that Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday, (which, oddly enough, happens to be the 4th of July), but it’s definitely in the top 5! Everything covered in red and pink, heart and lip shapes, and that special feeling you get surrounded by people you love. Even if you don’t have that “special someone” in your life, you do have many special someone’s, like your mom, your girlfriends, your coworkers.. Every one is fair game for sharing the love!

My look for Valentine’s this year is a little less on-the-nose. I wanted it to give off a romantic vibe, from the ivory lace poet sleeves to the lace-up nude heels, without being a lovely, yet uber safe, little red dress. I loved this top so much that I actually bought it in navy as well, which you’ll be seeing soon on Instagram!

From me and mine to you and yours, Happy Valentine’s Day!

December Stitch Fix

January 31, 2017

Hello, loves! Yes, I realize I’m a month behind on posting my fixes, but (if you haven’t read my previous post), I’ve had a lot going on! I love opening up that box every month and seeing what my stylist has selected for me. It’s like getting a care package from a friend! Well, one I have to pay for haha, but a fun gift to open nonetheless. For my December Stitch Fix, I requested a fun party dress, a metallic or embellished clutch, and a cozy sweater. I received two dresses, a clutch, a sweater and a pair of leggings. Read on to hear my thoughts on each and see how I styled them.

December Stitch Fix - Little Black Dress and Leopard Heels December Stitch Fix - LBD with black tights December Stitch Fix - Metallic Gold ClutchCocktail dress & metallic clutch / Stitch Fix // Peacoat / Victoria’s Secret (so sad they stopped making clothes!) // Necklace c/o Baublebar // Tights / Hue // Heels / Mossimo
The dress was unfortunately too big on me, I could have gone down a size. It honestly seemed a little young for me, and that’s one of the reasons I sent it back, along with the price. It kind of seemed like something I would find in the Junior’s “occasion” department at Kohls, and definitely not a piece I would pay $88 for. The clutch was SO cute, maybe a touch oversized for a night-out, but it had several nicks in it. Not sure if it was from a previous recipient who sent it back after using it or perhaps it was damaged during shipping. Either way, I expect things to arrive in “new” condition. Dress and clutch, $38, returned.

December Stitch Fix - Puffy Jacket and Party DressDress / Stitch Fix // Jacket / gift from the boyfriend // Tights / Hue // Booties / Forever 21 / Necklace and bracelets / LA finds
This I believe was the second attempt at a fun party dress, but I was just not feeling this print for December. I feel like it maybe could have worked in summer, but I didn’t see it as an ideal holiday option.
Dress, $118, returned.

December Stitch Fix - Burgundy Sweater and Leggings December Stitch Fix - Cutout Sweater DetailSweater and leggings / Stitch Fix // Necklace / Rocksbox // Flats / BCBGeneration // Bag / Forever 21
I became a little obsessed with how soft this sweater was and the saturated wine hue. Even though it kiiinda shows my bra straps without some frequent adjusting, I found it so cozy that I wore it for a couple days in a row, with a little fabric refresher in-between. The leggings were great and felt very supportive, but I felt that I could have done better on the price.
Sweater, $58, kept, leggings, $78, returned.

Overall, just the sweater was a keeper from my December Stitch Fix. I think the price points were still a little high for my liking, and the damaged item was definitely not great to discover. Overall, not my most inspired fix, but my next one was much better, and it should it up very soon!

Floral Bomber and Dark Denim

December 14, 2016

Floral Bomber and Dark Denim - Full Fall Look

Hello, loves!
I wanted to talk a little bit today about New Year’s resolutions. Not the life-changing, quit my job, pay off all my bills (although both would be nice), type of notions, but style resolutions. Over the years, I’ve amassed a whole lot of “fast-fashion” pieces. Some of which, I’ve worn to death, like my black Chelsea ankle boots from Forever 21 or my work blouses from H&M. What I’ve realized over time, though, is that the pieces that are overly trendy, loud prints, don’t fit quite right or are uncomfortable, etc., I rarely wear. Not only does this create a lot of clutter, but it also made me think about the money I’m spending and the extra things I’m bringing in to my home (and closet) that I don’t love. Maybe it’s a little bit of Marie Kondo sneaking in, but a wardrobe detox seems to be in order.
For this upcoming year, I’d like to focus on bringing in not only things that I love in the moment, but things I’ll love next year, and the next, and downsizing the items I don’t wear often enough (or at all). I’m not going to give up on shopping at Zara, ASOS and their ilk entirely, because I do need to continue buying work clothes and basics at reasonable price points, but I’m going to be much more selective on how I fill my closet. Everlane makes some of the best basics around, and I’d love to weed out some of my fading tees and tanks to transition over to more well-made pieces from their line, like the basic black tank I’m wearing here.
I’d also love to set a style budget for myself. When I add up how much I’ve spent over the past year (or 10!) on things I wear, the numbers are staggering! It makes me think of how many fun things I could have done instead with that money. No looking back though, only forward! A detailed closet edit is already in the works, so many things will soon be added to my Poshmark account, and I’m tempted to initiate the “1 thing in, 1 thing out” rule, to keep my hoarding in check.

I’d love to know, what are your style resolutions for the New Year?

November Stitch Fix Review

November 30, 2016

November Stitch Fix Review - Navy Blazer, Jeans, Tote BagHello, loves (and Fall!)
I’m so excited to bring to you my November Stitch Fix Review! I have to say, this was a goooood one. I love when my stylist just “gets” what I’m in the mood to wear. This time, I requested a dark pair of jeans, a jewel-toned or dark blazer, another moody floral piece (still going strong on this theme haha!), and a shirtdress. I knew it was a gamble asking for a shirtdress, as they almost ALWAYS don’t fit in the hips, or if they do, they’re swimming around the bust area. Alas, the curse of big hips and a less-than-voluptuous upper half 😉 This one didn’t work for me, and was way too short to wear as a dress. The ruffle tank, pictured solo, seemed a bit too 70’s for me, and I also noticed it had a small hole in it! Definitely a first in my Stitch Fix boxes, but it of course went back. Continue reading to see what I kept and what I passed on in my November Stitch Fix Review.

November Stitch Fix Review - Scarf, Tote, Jeans and Blazer Blazer / Stitch Fix // Striped top / Elizabeth & Clarke // Jeans / MaviUSA from StitchFix // Scarf / H&M // Tote / Sole Society // Flats / BCBGeneration from Nordstrom Rack
The jeans are from a previous fix, and are a perpetual favorite. The blazer was lovely, had a cool herringbone pattern, and in a color that was so versatile, but at $98, I couldn’t justify keeping it.

November Stitch Fix Review - Zara Star Bow Blouse and Dark Skinny Jeans November Stitch Fix Review - Skinny Jeans and Tory Burch Eddie FlatsJeans / Liverpool Jeans from Stitch Fix // Blouse / Zara // Flats / Tory Burch // Bag / Botkier // Bracelet / Ronnie M Jewelry
I’d been in need of another pair of dark skinnies for some time now, and these fit like a dream. They’re a touch long to wear with flats, but are the perfect length to wear with heels, or scrunched up a bit. These were a steal at $78, because I will get SO much use out of them in the upcoming months.

November Stitch Fix Review - Floral Blouse and Pencil Skirt November Stitch Fix Review - Floral Blouse, Vintage Clutch and Heels Top / Stitch Fix / Skirt / Stitch Fix (past fix) // Heels / Ivanka Trump // Clutch / Vintage
This top represented my “moody floral” request, and I LOVE the lace detail at the top. It does force me to wear a strapless bra, but I’ll suffer to be able to wear this beauty! Blouse, $58, kept.

November Stitch Fix Review - Maroon Ruffle BlouseThis is the aforementioned 70’s-ish top, which I was already not sold on, then I discovered a small hole near the seam.. Top, $54, returned.

November Stitch Fix Review - Plaid ShirtdressUggghh… It’s so cute!!!! Damn wide hips. Shirtdress, $64, returned.

All in all, I kept the jeans and floral blouse, based on projected wear and value overall. The blazer I kind of regret returning, but I’m sure my stylist can find another at a more reasonable price point.
