November Stitch Fix Review

November 30, 2016

November Stitch Fix Review - Navy Blazer, Jeans, Tote BagHello, loves (and Fall!)
I’m so excited to bring to you my November Stitch Fix Review! I have to say, this was a goooood one. I love when my stylist just “gets” what I’m in the mood to wear. This time, I requested a dark pair of jeans, a jewel-toned or dark blazer, another moody floral piece (still going strong on this theme haha!), and a shirtdress. I knew it was a gamble asking for a shirtdress, as they almost ALWAYS don’t fit in the hips, or if they do, they’re swimming around the bust area. Alas, the curse of big hips and a less-than-voluptuous upper half 😉 This one didn’t work for me, and was way too short to wear as a dress. The ruffle tank, pictured solo, seemed a bit too 70’s for me, and I also noticed it had a small hole in it! Definitely a first in my Stitch Fix boxes, but it of course went back. Continue reading to see what I kept and what I passed on in my November Stitch Fix Review.

November Stitch Fix Review - Scarf, Tote, Jeans and Blazer Blazer / Stitch Fix // Striped top / Elizabeth & Clarke // Jeans / MaviUSA from StitchFix // Scarf / H&M // Tote / Sole Society // Flats / BCBGeneration from Nordstrom Rack
The jeans are from a previous fix, and are a perpetual favorite. The blazer was lovely, had a cool herringbone pattern, and in a color that was so versatile, but at $98, I couldn’t justify keeping it.

November Stitch Fix Review - Zara Star Bow Blouse and Dark Skinny Jeans November Stitch Fix Review - Skinny Jeans and Tory Burch Eddie FlatsJeans / Liverpool Jeans from Stitch Fix // Blouse / Zara // Flats / Tory Burch // Bag / Botkier // Bracelet / Ronnie M Jewelry
I’d been in need of another pair of dark skinnies for some time now, and these fit like a dream. They’re a touch long to wear with flats, but are the perfect length to wear with heels, or scrunched up a bit. These were a steal at $78, because I will get SO much use out of them in the upcoming months.

November Stitch Fix Review - Floral Blouse and Pencil Skirt November Stitch Fix Review - Floral Blouse, Vintage Clutch and Heels Top / Stitch Fix / Skirt / Stitch Fix (past fix) // Heels / Ivanka Trump // Clutch / Vintage
This top represented my “moody floral” request, and I LOVE the lace detail at the top. It does force me to wear a strapless bra, but I’ll suffer to be able to wear this beauty! Blouse, $58, kept.

November Stitch Fix Review - Maroon Ruffle BlouseThis is the aforementioned 70’s-ish top, which I was already not sold on, then I discovered a small hole near the seam.. Top, $54, returned.

November Stitch Fix Review - Plaid ShirtdressUggghh… It’s so cute!!!! Damn wide hips. Shirtdress, $64, returned.

All in all, I kept the jeans and floral blouse, based on projected wear and value overall. The blazer I kind of regret returning, but I’m sure my stylist can find another at a more reasonable price point.

October Stitch Fix

November 1, 2016

October Stitch Fix - Burgundy Cords and ScarfHello, loves!
Welcome to my October Stitch Fix, filled with the colors of fall.. Rich burgundy, forest green, navy and grey. This time around, I requested dark pants, a moody floral piece, a comfy grey cardigan, a midi skirt and a fun piece of my stylist’s choosing. I was thrilled with everything I received, with the exception of the comfy sweater. For me, it seemed too casual, as do most things with hoods. Spoiler alert, I kept everything this round! I was considering sending back just the sweater, but it made more financial sense to keep it all, so I could partake in the 25% discount and I can always bundle up in the sweater when it’s chilly out.

October Stitch Fix - Burgundry Corduroy Pants Top & Cords / Stitch Fix // Scarf & Sunnies / Layered by Cake // Flats / BCBGeneration
Top $48 & Cords $68, both kept. Enter one of the most versatile blouses ever! I can pair it with virtually any bottom, and layer a sweater or scarf on top. It’s a great basic piece to have in my closet. The cords I wasn’t so sure about until I tried them on. The rich color and great fit made me change my mind, and I realized they were actually quite versatile as well.

October Stitch Fix - Dark Floral Top and Midi Skirt October Stitch Fix - Dark Floral Top Top / Stitch Fix // Skirt / H&M // Clutch / Forever 21 // Flats / Louise et Cie // Necklace / BaubleBar
Blouse, $54, kept. Loved the print on this top and the detail around the neck. It does mean that I can’t wear a regular bra, and I hate wearing strapless bras, but for this top, I’ll make an exception.

October Stitch Fix - Hooded Cardigan for Fall October Stitch Fix - Jeans and Hooded CardiganHooded sweater / Stitch Fix // Top / Old Navy // Jeans / MaviUSA from Stitch Fix // Flats / Mossimo // Sunglasses / Layered by Cake
Sweater, $54, kept. Like I said, I wasn’t initially sold on this hooded waterfall cardigan, but it is a great piece to just throw on with some loose-fitting pants and a tank on the weekend. A little too casual for me to wear out on a regular basis, but soooo comfy.

October Stitch Fix - Pencil Skirt & Dolman Top October Stitch Fix - Striped Skirt for Fall Top & Skirt / Stitch Fix // Clutch / Who What Wear for Target // Booties / Forever 21 // Bracelet / Fab.com / Necklace / LA find
Skirt, $48, kept. This skirt was similar to another knit pencil skirt sent to me in one of my first fixes, shown here and here. That one had tones of slate blue, navy and cream. This material has a slightly different color way, also incorporating burnt red and olive, and I’ve already found so many different pairings for it.

Overall, a great fix. I have worn the black top seriously so many times, and the skirt multiple times as well. The cords are just a touch warm for me still, but I look forward to wearing them in the upcoming months. Next time, I’m looking for a dark blazer, another moody floral piece (can you tell I’m obsessed?!), an everyday pair of jeans and a shirtdress to pair with leggings/tights.

Fall Florals & Rust Skirt

October 25, 2016

Fall Florals & Rust Skirt - Full Outfit Hello, loves, and happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mark and I had a lot of fun things planned, and I had every intention of posting some of them again on Instagram stories, but the rain kind of squashed that idea when the main event was outdoors! I know we need the rain and I actually enjoy it, even driving in it isn’t so bad, but not when an entire Sunday afternoon is supposed to be devoted to walking around a few city blocks viewing art crafted by locals. We ended up spending most of our time out of the downpour in the beer garden (surprise, surprise), and even though our original thought was to take some pictures while walking around like we did during the last art walk, I told my photographer Holli to leave her camera at home, and let’s just make the most of this super rainy day! It worked out pretty well; we dined at a phenomenal food truck called Fire Pizza, which I hope finds a brick & mortar location soon so we can indulge on their tasty pies more often. Holli and the other girls found some gorgeous handmade jewelry, while I restrained as I prep for an upcoming no-buy (I’m thinking until Black Friday).
The day before, Mark was a part of a nostalgic 80’s road rally, along with 30 other cars, while I hiked a 5k on a new trail in town, and then went to work (less fun). It was a nice re-set and I think I’m going to start mapping out nice little walks to take on future Saturdays. I got 14k+ steps that day, go me!

As you may know, I’m obsessed with fall florals, and have already worked them in to a couple of looks on the blog here and here. Spring florals are lovely; you know, the pastel, floaty petals on airy fabrics. But there’s something a bit moody and brooding about darker tones and bolder blooms on sturdier fabrics. I love working them in to pieces you wouldn’t expect, like this bomber jacket, similar to one I just purchased.

August Stitch Fix

September 14, 2016

Welcome to my August Stitch Fix!
This month, I forgot to submit any requests to my stylist, but thankfully, she’s been watching my Pinterest boards, because she definitely found some amazing items that she knew I’d love.. Spolier alert, I ended up buying my entire fix for 25% off! My stylist knows that I don’t wear any hemlines above the knee (or not much above it, anyway), I love fun prints, lace, pieces that can transition from work day to date night, and colored pants. She pretty much hit every note just right, as I’ve been wearing all of these pieces in heavy rotation since they arrived at my door. I’m not sure how I managed to do it, but I lost my invoice so I don’t have prices available for my August Stitch Fix items to share with you.. The total usually ends up being around $200, because I keep my requested price-per-piece under $50. Read on for all of the details on my August Stitch Fix!

August Stitch Fix - Floral Blouse, Olive Pants, Wedge Sandals August Stitch Fix - Floral Blouse Olive Cropped Pants and Sandals for FallTop & Pants / Stitch Fix // Crossbody bag / Cambridge Satchel Co. from the Box of Style // Wedges / JustFab // Sunnies / Amazon
First up, two Stitch Fix items, this sheer floral-printed top with crochet panels, and these slightly sheeny (that’s a word, right?!) olive cropped pants. The pants had been on my wishlist for a while, and are even more versatile than I imagined. I’ve paired them with everything from striped tees to a strappy tank, and I can’t wait to match them up with a chunky sweater, once the weather allows. The shirt I love because it’s light and breezy and the floral print isn’t necessarily season-specific.

August Stitch Fix - Navy Maxi Dress and Crossbody Bag August Stitch Fix Turquoise and Navy Maxi Dress for FallMaxi dress / Stitch Fix // Bag / Shaffer LA from the Box of Style // Sunnies / Amazon
I can always go for another maxi dress, and although this version is a tiny bit snug, I love how long it is (floor-grazing with low wedges), and the mixture of turquoise and navy is so pretty.

August Stitch Fix - Black Fringe Tank and Olive Cropped Pants August Stitch Fix - Strappy Black Tank, Olive Cropped Pants and Leopard Crossbody bagTop & Pants / Stitch Fix // Bag / American Eagle // Sandals / Seychelles // Sunnies / Amazon
Initially, I thought that this tank was a little big on me, but I grew to love its airy, flowyness and the fringe looks so cool when you walk. It does kind of stick to my pants a bit when I’m just standing, but I’m hoping a spray of Static Guard will help.

August Stitch Fix - Colored Lace Tank, White Cropped Pants and Silver Bow Sandals August Stitch Fix - Lace Top, White Jeans, Tassel Necklace  Top / Stitch Fix // Jeans / Old Navy // Sandals / JcPenney // Necklace / LA find // Sunnies / Amazon
This lace top was definitely a size too large for me, so I exchanged it for one smaller. This was my first time exchanging something at Stitch Fix, and the process was quite smooth. At checkout, I just hit the “exchange” button, selected a new size, and I received the smaller top within days. I’ve never seen a top with a lace overlay and a brighter tank peeking out from underneath, and again, loving the turquoise/navy color combo.

August Stitch Fix - Off the Shoulder Olive Top, Cropped Denim, Bucket Bag August Stitch Fix - Cropped Denim, Leather Bucket Bag & Lace Up Wedges for Fall Top / BohoCheri // Jeans / Stitch Fix // Sandals / JustFab // Necklace / Kyle Chan Design // Bag / Shaffer LA from the Box of Style // Bracelets / Forever 21 & LA find // Sunnies / Amazon
I didn’t know if I’d like these cropped, frayed jeans, but they’ve totally grown on me! They’re the perfect length for late summer/early fall and pairing with lace-up sandals.

All in all, a near perfect fix, and all of this without even requesting anything specific! It pays to stick with the same stylist for a while, because they really get to know what works for you. To sign up for Stitch Fix, feel free to use my link here. Each fix is a $20 styling fee up front, which is redeemable towards the purchase of anything you’re sent.
