Summer Sheath and New Hair

Hello, loves!
This may be the first you’re seeing it, but I recently chopped off over a foot of hair! Yes, I donated it, because that seems to be the first question that anyone asks, followed by “why the hell did you do that?” Short answer, I felt like I needed a change. Long hair is gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but I felt like mine was so long that I never knew what to do with it. Styles would take forever, and usually fall out quickly because I had too much hair to do them properly, or be physically laborious (girls with superlong hair will understand the arm/neck/shoulder pain of trying to style 2.5 foot long locks after already spending 20 minutes blowdrying.. it’s an upper body workout!). So I was left with only curling it, or straightening it, because my air dry waves were not so beach chic due to their weight.
Let me take you back a little bit, to the time before last I visited my stylist. She greeted me with “Hey, what are we doing to you today? I had a dream last night that you chopped all of your hair off!,” which of course had me wanting to flee. But later on that day, I was watching Jane the Virgin and saw one of the actresses, Xiomara, with a super cute lob. I found a still online and I screenshot a pic to send to my stylist, with the caption “hey, if I did go shorter, how would this cut look on me?,” to overwhelmingly positive response. Honestly, I had completely forgotten about that conversation until I received her reminder text the day before my most recent appointment. Low and behold, 2 months later, that pic would serve as inspiration for this style you see today. Yes, it was impulsive, and yes, I realllllllly miss my hair. But I’m also having fun styling it and finding how much more versatile this shorter length is. More to come in the next post!
Moving on to this gorgeous sheath dress from London Times, it’s truly one of my favorites from the collection right now. I love the print mixing, the curve-hugging shape, and the black, white and red combo. It’s classy for work, but could totally transition easily to a going out look. To take it from office to restaurant, I’d throw on some black, thin-heeled ankle booties, a cocktail ring and a maybe a crystal choker, to bring a little glam.

Clean Head to Toe with Soapbox

Hello, loves!
Today, I’m happy to be reviewing the newly redesigned Soapbox line of products, including their hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The old packaging, I must say, was quite lackluster and nothing that I would reach for in the store. They’ve completely redone it, to have a chicer and more inviting vibe, while still being offered at very budget-friendly prices, which I’m never mad at. One thing that definitely stood out to me about that brand, before I even cracked open one of the bottles, was that Soapbox is truly a company that gives back. To date, they’ve provided more than 2.6 million bars of soap to people in need, both in and outside of the U.S.! You can even type in the code found on each bottle to find which project your purchase is contributing to! Such a phenomenal idea. Now.. On to the good stuff!
I’ll start with my favorites. The Citrus & Peach Rose hand soap is seriously one of the best smelling things I’ve ever used. It’s the perfect blend of fruity and floral and the ideal soap to display proudly in my guest bathroom. I love that the scent lingers for a little while on hands, not overwhelmingly so, but mildly present.
When I saw that the body wash was coconut and sandalwood, I was a little iffy, because I’m kind of over the sunscreen-scented bath products that have been inundating the market lately. This one, thankfully, has a great balance of the sweetness and nuttiness of coconut, along with the subtle musk of sandalwood, making it the perfect unisex wash. It also leaves my skin nice and smooth and has a lovely lather.
Moving on to the shampoo and conditioner, I didn’t find the conditioner quite as favorably. I think that my long, color-treated (re: damaged), hair requires a bit more moisture than the conditioner provides. I didn’t feel the softness and lushness that I do with some other brands. The shampoo did it’s job of making my hair feel clean, like I was actually ridding it of all of the dry shampoo and various products I throw in my ‘do, but without stripping it of the natural oils, so that I will give positive marks for. The scents of the hair products are also on the more neutral side, and would be great for leaving in the guest bath as well, because everyone could use them. I’m actually planning on cutting my hair very soon, so I’m going to try out the conditioner again and see if maybe the condition of my locks had something to do with my less-than-stellar experience with it.
All in all, the standouts are the hand soap and body wash. I would absolutely purchase these again, and am already thinking of next ordering the Pomegranate & Plum hand soap for fall. Maxi in the Halls

Hi, babes!
I know, I know, another floral maxi dress, but I just can’t get enough of them! This is one of my favorite prints yet, a vivid floral with a deep blue background. This one has great deep pockets, a high neckline to frame gorgeous metallic jewelry, and a lovely flow when walking. I will say that it was a toucccch short on me, at 5’7″, with flat sandals it was still a couple inches shorter than I would have liked. This exact dress is sold out, but I’m hoping for a restock soon! Until then, check out these other gorgeous maxis Perfectly Priscilla has to offer.
It’s always kind of crazy going back to shoot at places that used to mean something else to me. We went to Crafton Hills College to capture these images, and years ago, I used to attend college here. So much has changed, so many improvements made, and a lot of measures to make this once sterile campus more inviting, green, and beautiful. As with every college campus, there are little nooks and crannies, places to hide away and get some piece and quiet to study or decompress. I know I’m probably not supposed to since I’m no longer a student, but sometimes I come up here just on an off day to read a book and tune out the world. There are gorgeous vistas of the mountains and valleys to look out upon.

Cold Shoulder Vibes

What’s happenin’, hot stuff?! 😀
I’m so excited that the weekend is here! My week actually wasn’t that bad at all, after coming back from vacation. The first days were a little rough, but staying busy at work, a photo shoot, and some fun stuff in-between had these past few days flying by and now it’s Fri-Yay!!
I wanted to share this weekend-perfect look ASAP because I thought it was ideal for a myriad of off-duty events, from brunch with the ladies, to a fun date night, to shopping and hanging out. Floral prints aside, this is kind of my go-to outfit formula… a simple top, jeans, comfy but cute footwear, and killer jewelry. I built the look around this top from PinkBlush Boutique, which I adore for several reasons. It’s roomy without being baggy, making the cut super flattering, the tunic length is great for a bit of bum coverage if I wanted to pair it with tights, and the ruffles along the cold-shoulder are such a cute and thoughtful detail. Another elevated basic that belongs in my wardrobe, for sure!
I’d also pair this top with a printed pencil skirt or white cropped denim, or keep the skinny jeans in blue or gray and throw on a pair of heels and some layered gold necklaces for those fancier cold shoulder vibes. Hope you enjoy the look!
