Date Night in the New Year with UpBra

December 27, 2017

This post was created in partnership with UpBra. Items in this post were provided to me for reviewing purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

JustFab Lace Bodysuit and The Giving Keys NecklaceThe start of a New Year always lends itself to an onslaught of resolutions and promises we make to ourselves, and I am no stranger to this tradition. I’ll be sharing some of my own over the next few posts, and I’m starting off with something a bit personal. Mark and I have been together coming up on 5 years, and I’m not going to lie when I say that we’ve often fallen into a rut with our date nights. It often ends with us ordering something for pick-up, coming back and watching countless episodes of Broadchurch or The Punisher. It’s just so easy!
So for this upcoming year, I’ve decided to implement a new “policy” for Mark & I and it includes one spectacular date night each month. I have so many fun things planned, some seasonal or event-specific which I don’t want to share here in case he reads my blog haha! But that gets me to thinking also of how I want to feel on our dates. Flirty is always a good start, but sometimes I also want to feel sexy!
I was sent a couple of bras from UpBra recently, and I’ve been finding myself reaching for them more than my go-to seamless bras that I’ve had for years. When I first put on the “perfect T-shirt bra“, I instantly noticed perkiness, fullness, and a lovely shape to my bust-line. It also dips down pretty low in the front, so it’s ideal for wearing with low-cut V-neck tops and dresses. I paired it with this lace bodysuit to highlight my décolletage and I was thrilled with how I felt. Sexy, but to too showy, and totally ready for a fun, adventurous date night out on the town with my love.

Perfectly Priscilla Football Casual OutfitHey babes!
I don’t know about you but.. I’m obsessed with football. It’s always been my favorite sport to watch, and even though I did enjoy a basketball game or two growing up, my heart has always been with football. I can recall watching games with my dad, both college and pro, as far back as I can remember. Now that I’m all grown up, I not only watch the games every Thursday, Sunday and Monday (whew!!), but I’m also in a fantasy league. Not to toot my own horn, but I’ve won my league 2 out of the past 3 years! It’s fun to feel like you have a little bit of a stake in the games, more so than just cheering for your favorite teams. Mine was the San Diego Chargers for the longest time, but since the switch to LA, I’m sorry to say, it just doesn’t feel the same!

My attire for the game is shifting as well, especially since I don’t necessarily feel like I have a designated team anymore, and rarely reach for my jerseys or team-specific t-shirts. I was so excited to find this top from Perfectly Priscilla Boutique, which is as comfy as it is cute! I love the “Home is Where the Field is” message, and the forgiving fit that won’t show if I’ve had a beer or two, or shared a plate of chicken tenders during halftime.
I’d love to hear, what’s your favorite sport? Do you prefer to watch the games from home, or to get caught up in the excitement with like-minded fans at a restaurant or sports bar?

Fall Transitions with Simply Be

Fall Transitional OutfitThis post contains affiliate links. Clicking on them or purchasing items through them may provide me with a small commission. This is just a part of what keeps Dressed for Time going! 😀

Hello, my loves!
Happy Wednesday. It really does feel like the middle of the week right now, because I’m sandwiched between weekends full of events! It’s kind of a new feeling for me, but I’m not mad at it. If you follow me on Insta, you probably already knew that I attended OC Fashion Week and I had a blast! I met up with some of the other members of the SoCal Blogger Babes group, and we watched a handful of local designers show off their latest collections. This weekend, I’ll be attending a restaurant opening in-town, Fashion Week OC at Fashion Island hosted by Simply, and visiting my local Nordstrom to check out their Fall Beauty Trend event! Whew! I’m far from a social butterfly, but I’m having so much fun traveling around Southern California, and honored to be included in the festivities!
Back to the outfit at hand, I finally found a fall transitional piece that incorporates one of my fave trends from summer, pompoms! This was actually my first foray in to trumpet sleeves, and I love that this trend is following us in to cooler months as well. Some pieces just FEEL fun, and this is definitely one of them. I paired it with a grey tank (a fall essential), some distressed denim complete with frayed hems, and these TDF heels! I wish they came in white, because I’d already be on that train, but I’m searching for a similar pair to rock all fall and winter long. I love this look because it’s current without being a slave to the trends, do you feel the same?

Summer Sheath and New Hair

August 25, 2017

London Times Maxine Sheath DressHello, loves!
This may be the first you’re seeing it, but I recently chopped off over a foot of hair! Yes, I donated it, because that seems to be the first question that anyone asks, followed by “why the hell did you do that?” Short answer, I felt like I needed a change. Long hair is gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but I felt like mine was so long that I never knew what to do with it. Styles would take forever, and usually fall out quickly because I had too much hair to do them properly, or be physically laborious (girls with superlong hair will understand the arm/neck/shoulder pain of trying to style 2.5 foot long locks after already spending 20 minutes blowdrying.. it’s an upper body workout!). So I was left with only curling it, or straightening it, because my air dry waves were not so beach chic due to their weight.
Let me take you back a little bit, to the time before last I visited my stylist. She greeted me with “Hey, what are we doing to you today? I had a dream last night that you chopped all of your hair off!,” which of course had me wanting to flee. But later on that day, I was watching Jane the Virgin and saw one of the actresses, Xiomara, with a super cute lob. I found a still online and I screenshot a pic to send to my stylist, with the caption “hey, if I did go shorter, how would this cut look on me?,” to overwhelmingly positive response. Honestly, I had completely forgotten about that conversation until I received her reminder text the day before my most recent appointment. Low and behold, 2 months later, that pic would serve as inspiration for this style you see today. Yes, it was impulsive, and yes, I realllllllly miss my hair. But I’m also having fun styling it and finding how much more versatile this shorter length is. More to come in the next post!
Moving on to this gorgeous sheath dress from London Times, it’s truly one of my favorites from the collection right now. I love the print mixing, the curve-hugging shape, and the black, white and red combo. It’s classy for work, but could totally transition easily to a going out look. To take it from office to restaurant, I’d throw on some black, thin-heeled ankle booties, a cocktail ring and a maybe a crystal choker, to bring a little glam.
