Birchbox Finds

January 21, 2016

Hello loves!
I’ve been going a little nuts over all of the gorgeous little sets that Birchbox has been putting out recently… Not only are they cute, fantastically curated collections of items, but I’m finding most of them to be very useful in my house and they’re at crazy good prices! I’ve previously posted the Lovely Day Set (where I fell in love with Greenleaf candles), and the Gym Bag Heroes set, which I adore (especially the socks and water bottle), and have since purchased the Entertaining Essentials Set and the Charmed Life Set.
First up, Entertaining Essentials!

Birch1Pretty much everything is something I would purchase outside of a set. Love the little silicone pinch bowls, bamboo salad servers, and the unbreakable wine decanter. I will definitely make good use of the syrups in cocktails when we have guests over, and the place cards if we have a more formal gathering at the house. The only thing I’m a touch iffy on is the coasters, as the cheapie cardboard isn’t really appealing, but at least I won’t be sad to throw them away at the end of the night if they get messed up! This set is $42, but I took another $10 off using some Birchbox points I had saved up.

DFT- Product Picks - 7The most recent set I’ve been going gaga over is the Charmed Life Set. Sadly, this one isn’t available anymore, but I still wanted to share all of the goodies that were included. I truly can’t believe this set was only $40 as an add on to my regular sample box, as I would have paid $40 for just two of these items! The Illume candle smells amazing, and I’ve been wanting to try this multi-purpose oil from Nuxe for a while. Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with all things gold, so the fact that the picture frame, bud vase and ring holder are all covered in gold makes my heart happy.

There are a couple of sets right now that I’ve got my eye on, the Strong Start, and the Everyday Glamour. Strong Start is similar to the Gym Heroes, but it has a bkr bottle (LOVE!) and some different beauty products. Everyday Glamour features some great luxury makeup and skincare items, along with a gorgeous metallic pouch. These Birchbox finds would also make for lovely Valentine’s Day gifts, for a friend getting back on the fitness-minded track, or for anyone who loves to feel all girly and pretty.

Blog Sale

January 21, 2016

I’ve just posted a TON of items to my Poshmark account, including a GiGi New York Hayden Satchel, BB Dakota Moto Jacket, a Kate Spade crossbody bag, Sam Edelman heels, items from Kendra Scott, Nasty Gal, ASOS and more! Some of the items have been worn in past photo shoots. I’ve tried to keep my prices very reasonable and may consider bringing them down even more 😉 If you’re in the market for a deal or for a chance to have items from my closet, be sure to check out my account!

Lyon & Post Review

January 13, 2016

If you haven’t yet heard of Lyon & Post, here is your introduction! I discovered them about a month ago and have been having so much fun adding items to my “queue.” The idea is that Lyon & Post will send you four items from your queue that you have selected and you have seven days to try them on and see what grabs and inspires you before returning or purchasing them for keeps. Shipping is free to you and to return, and as long as you don’t remove the tags or actually wear the item, there is no charge for the at-home try-on. Brands are mostly mid-to-high end, like Vince, Joie, DVF, Current/Elliott and the like, and are often on sale! I’ve seen items for as much as 65% off.
Their philosophy is to let people actually try on their clothes in one’s natural habitat.. See what in one’s closet a jacket or blouse would pair with, and to be comfortable when trying on a new item, much unlike the environment of shopping in a store with the horrific dressing room lighting and persistent sales people. Below, I’ll review the items I received with my very first shipment!

Wink Flats 1These Chiara Ferragni stunners would be a welcome addition to my closet, and I would pair them with everything from cocktail dresses to jeans. Unfortunately, I ordered a size 38 and received a size 8. Typically, a 38 is a 7 1/2 so these were way too big on size 7 me. $143.50 (currently 50% off), not purchased.

Blue Dress2Next up, this cute floral print day dress from lbt-lbt. It had an interesting cut-out and would have been perfect for spring, however it was too small to even pull over my hips. $102 (currently 60% off), not purchased.

Hippie1This Cynthia Vincent dress, again, would be perfect for warmer months, but considering it is 40 degrees outside right now, I can’t quite think about shopping for summer 2016 outfits. The slip that came with this dress is soooooo tiny, literally about 8 inches wide, even though I ordered a large. It is very sheer so a slip would be necessary. $325, not purchased.

JoieLast but not least, this tropical floral print dress from Joie. This one actually fit pretty well, but I just couldn’t justify the price tag for something I can’t wear for 6 months. The material felt like the most luxe sundress, and I may consider revisiting this style in the future. $398, not purchased.

So, all in all, I received good quality items, some of which were on sale. I do find it interesting that their About page states that they have basics starting at $40 but I rarely see anything under $100 on the site, and that’s only the items that are on sale. I think it’s partially my fault that I received such out-of-season dresses because I didn’t realize that it was the top 4 items in my queue that got sent out so next time I will pay more attention to the order.
I did end up sending everything from this order back but am excited to get my next shipment of sweaters and coats that I can actually wear now. Honestly, the price points are a little high for me for the full-priced items, but some of the sale stuff is within my reach.
