SoCal Blogger Babes Fall Meetup

November 6, 2017

GilmoreStudios_0119Check out all of those babes, haha!!
I can not even begin to describe how awesome it was to meet up again with some of my favorite fellow influencers, this time for the SoCal Blogger Babes fall mixer! I’m really starting to look forward to all of these events, especially after seeing how much hard work goes in to planning them, and then the payoff.. A couple hours chatting, mingling, networking, sharing style tips, and overall being our badass selves!

Gilmore Studios was gracious enough to capture all of the great moments throughout the event, the laughter, the confessions, and of course, the fashion! The SoCal Blogger Babe VIPs were provided with looks from Viena Valentina, an online boutique featuring of-the-moment affordable styles. The sister/owners of the brand are themselves adorable, and they even brought along a rack of clothes for us to shop their latest additions.

GilmoreStudios_0027We all went gaga over these suculent pumpkins from The Wandering Desert. I will admit that a lot of the girls were trying to take them home for themselves when the event was nearing a close!

GilmoreStudios_0042 GilmoreStudios_0031Our primary sponsor for this event was Saranghae Skincare, a Korean beauty line. They were so amazing to gift 20 of us with their 5-step skincare line, and everyone went home with some of their sheet masks. I don’t know any girl who doesn’t freak out over sheet masks, and theirs are some of the best around, with quality ingredients like CoQ10 and hyaluronic acid.

GilmoreStudios_0023 GilmoreStudios_0038 GilmoreStudios_0082I’ll confess something.. I’m currently using this tote from Gigraffe Studios as my purse! I’ve honestly received so many compliments on it and people asking where they can get one! I tell them to apply to be a member! 😀 Also obsessed with my personalized leather keychain from Northwind Supply. I already had two leather tassels on my chain, and I’m starting to think I should probably draw a line before it gets out of hand. This one though is definitely a keeper!

GilmoreStudios_0017 GilmoreStudios_0050 GilmoreStudios_0051 GilmoreStudios_0043 GilmoreStudios_0091I can’t do a post without sharing my outfit details, so here they are! My blazer (which I wore as a cape because no one old the weather to cooperate!) was c/o Viena Valentina, my dress c/o Pink Blush, my Target booties, bless their little hearts, have been with me for over 5 years. My necklace and bangles are from Rocksbox, and my glasses are EyeBuyDirect.

GilmoreStudios_0024 GilmoreStudios_0095Whew, so many pictures, because there was so much going on! Always the best time with these babes, good things just seem to happen when we get together. We just attended StyleCon as a group yesterday, and amidst the chaos that it was, we still managed to catch up and have fun shopping and chatting. Until next time! Xoxo

Maggy London Cocktail Dress for Early FallHey there, you beautiful things!
We got a hint of the cool weather over the past couple days, and then it was 90 degrees again today. Le sigh. When we shot this dress it was 98 degrees, but I’m owning my glow! I had plans to meet Mark for a quick drink and then dinner downtown, but knew I’d have some time to kill before he got ready after work. Thankfully, my lovely photographer Holli was able to meet me to snap some shots (and join me for a glass of vino before the man of the hour arrived). I think Redlands, our city, is just so perfect for date night. I mean that for married couples of 30 years, or dreamers on their first date, and everyone in-between.
If you’re in the mood for cocktails, there are so many options, and I’d almost tried them all, but this was the first time I’d ever been to the District. When I heard “vape-friendly bar”, I’ll admit, I scoffed at the thought, because I’m not a fan of the vape. Thankfully, we had the place to ourselves, and the bar is actually REALLY nice, a little hipstery, but it’s Redlands, so there are touches of that everywhere. It was super clean and the drinks were very reasonably priced (1/2 off wine bottles on Wednesdays!), plus our bartender was so welcoming! He even allowed us to shoot pictures in the lounge area, which we greatly appreciated, so we could try to capture the vibe of this spot. I’m so thankful that Mark indulges me in these little dress-up date nights, even if they’re just in town. He knows I love to play dress-up, and I think he secretly enjoys it too!
I must admit that I look to Maggy London first when I am in need of a cute little cocktail dress. This one I love for the rich fabric with a subtle sheen, the off-shoulder/cut-out detail, and the pleated skirt for a little drama. I paired it with some neutral vintage accessories, (this pair of floral earrings that was part of a set acquired during Mark’s bday adventure up the coast this summer; a snakeskin clutch found at the Scarlet Threads consignment sale), along with nude pumps. Perfectly date-ready for wherever the night takes us!

Maggy London Fit & Flare and Longing for Fall

September 9, 2017

Maggy London Gabby Fit and Flare Dress Hello, hello, lovelies!
I know I’m going to say the thing that’s on every other southern Californian’s mind right now.. Can fall just get here already!? Every time I’m on Insta nowadays, I’m seeing all of my blogging friends breaking out their sweaters and boots, even some moto jackets in the mix.. Any idea how quickly I would drop to the ground going outside in multiple layers right now? It’s still only getting to the low 80’s when M and I are getting ready for sleep, and I’m simply over it.
Alright, enough complaining about the inevitable… Let’s talk about this gorgeous dress I’m wearing from Maggy London. Give me a dress that has a pleated skirt, and guaranteed, you will see me twirling like a 6 year old at least a couple times an hour. I just can’t help it! This one has incredible movement, and I’m loving the print. It’s small and refined enough to wear to work, but a fun mix of red, black and white than can easily translate to a dinner date or a meet-the-parents brunch. I’m often a fan of a more modest cut, and this one hits at the ever-flattering knee-length, with a nice V-neck to keep things interesting. I paired it with this fantastic rhinestone bib necklace I got in a Box of Style from last year, a vintage clutch, and some slip-on loafers. I’m still not totally sold on this style of shoe, and I thought they’d be way more comfy then they are, but maybe I just need to break these guys in a bit more.
What are your thoughts on the open-back shoe trend? A little weird or are you feelin’ it?

Summer Sheath and New Hair

August 25, 2017

London Times Maxine Sheath DressHello, loves!
This may be the first you’re seeing it, but I recently chopped off over a foot of hair! Yes, I donated it, because that seems to be the first question that anyone asks, followed by “why the hell did you do that?” Short answer, I felt like I needed a change. Long hair is gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but I felt like mine was so long that I never knew what to do with it. Styles would take forever, and usually fall out quickly because I had too much hair to do them properly, or be physically laborious (girls with superlong hair will understand the arm/neck/shoulder pain of trying to style 2.5 foot long locks after already spending 20 minutes blowdrying.. it’s an upper body workout!). So I was left with only curling it, or straightening it, because my air dry waves were not so beach chic due to their weight.
Let me take you back a little bit, to the time before last I visited my stylist. She greeted me with “Hey, what are we doing to you today? I had a dream last night that you chopped all of your hair off!,” which of course had me wanting to flee. But later on that day, I was watching Jane the Virgin and saw one of the actresses, Xiomara, with a super cute lob. I found a still online and I screenshot a pic to send to my stylist, with the caption “hey, if I did go shorter, how would this cut look on me?,” to overwhelmingly positive response. Honestly, I had completely forgotten about that conversation until I received her reminder text the day before my most recent appointment. Low and behold, 2 months later, that pic would serve as inspiration for this style you see today. Yes, it was impulsive, and yes, I realllllllly miss my hair. But I’m also having fun styling it and finding how much more versatile this shorter length is. More to come in the next post!
Moving on to this gorgeous sheath dress from London Times, it’s truly one of my favorites from the collection right now. I love the print mixing, the curve-hugging shape, and the black, white and red combo. It’s classy for work, but could totally transition easily to a going out look. To take it from office to restaurant, I’d throw on some black, thin-heeled ankle booties, a cocktail ring and a maybe a crystal choker, to bring a little glam.
