Styling Trending Above Jewelry Two Ways

June 12, 2018

This post is sponsored by Trending Above. All thoughts and opinions are always my own.

Hey, loves!
I hope you all are having a fantastic start to the week. I’m so excited to be sharing with you some gorgeous pieces I found from Trending Above. Designer and owner Alyssa Bove is quite the fashionista herself, and is a genius at creating pieces that layer gorgeously with one another. I chose three of her designs to style… the Cori Necklace in Pink, Devan Sparkle Bangle, and the Madden Bracelet in Cream. All of the pieces work so well when you mix and match within the line, but also when pairing with pieces you already have in your own collection.
I’m styling Trending Above jewelry two ways to reflect my Southern California vibe. First for a more chill, summery ensemble, perfect for a relaxed weekend brunch or running errands but still wanting to look cute. Second, dressing it all up a bit for date night or a fun little party in a swingy floral-print dress. Which look is your favorite?

It’s been a rollercoaster of a week for me. Last Friday and Saturday consisted of a two day immersive retreat called Amplify in Irvine, CA. It was an incredibly introspective experience, gently forcing me to think about my goals, what I wanted, and why I wanted it.
It was such an eye-opening experience and I am so thankful that I was invited to attend. I actually got quite a bit emotional at the end, not only because the retreat was coming to a close, but also because everyone was sharing about what they learned and how they felt.. I was almost brought to tears! Saying goodbye to all of my new friends, all of those incredible boss babes, was hard, but now I can sit back and follow them all on their journeys and hope to meet up with everyone again soon!

This post is sponsored by The Roof on Wilshire. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

LA Blogger BrunchHello, loves!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I know I sure did! Any weekend where I can be productive, visit with friends, and create some more content for you guys is a win in my book. I seriously can’t wait to share all of the fun projects I’ve been working on.. Coming soon!
I’m still buzzing from the Blogger Brunch that I hosted recently at the Roof on Wilshire. Any time I can meet up with some of the amazing ladies in this community, I will jump on it, and this group was exceptional! When creative minds get to talking, bonding and sharing ideas, it’s such a lovely thing. Some of these ladies I’d met before at previous events, some I’d just been following on the ‘gram for years, and some were completely new faces. They came from all corners of LA and Orange County to meet up, make some new friends, and of course enjoy the tasty drinks, food, and STUNNING panoramic views of the city.

Los Angeles Fashion and Beauty Influencers @marblelouslypetite, @lomolife and @dressedfortime The Roof on Wilshire Brunch SpreadSo many tasty offerings, including French toast with fresh peaches, sliders, crispy bacon, broccoli salad, and scrambled eggs. So yum!! We literally couldn’t pick a favorite dish.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep them in the glass jars because we were near the pool. but they were so gorgeous that the ladies each tried to take a bunch when we were departing!

We absolutely adored all of the different little areas to explore on the rooftop, all with dynamic views of the city. The food was delicious, the drinks were perfectly poured, and the staff was friendly and informative. I know several of the girls, myself included, already have plans to go back!

NYFW Day 1 Recap

February 18, 2018

This post contains affiliate links and was created in partnership with Rachel Roy, Shop Pink Blush, Bala di Gala and Delsey Luggage.

File Feb 17, 6 43 49 PMHey, Babes! I hope you’ve been following along on my Insta stories over the past week or so, where I shared a lot of behind-the-scenes looks at New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2018. If not, no worries, because I’m doing a full recap here, broken down by days.
Above is my airport style look, and as you can see, I went SUPER comfy, while still looking a bit chic, if I do say so myself. I was sent this oversized chenille sweater from Pink Blush, and it was seriously the softest thing I’ve ever worn. I kept hugging myself on the flight, like I as snuggled up with my softest blanket at home. It also kept me warm, which is super important to me, as I always get cold on flights. I wanted to do a classic navy and black pairing, so I wore my new velvet-trimmed peacoat, black fleece-lined leggings, and navy glitter ankle booties.
I was shocked that even with all of my outfits, accessories, toiletries and FIVE pairs of shoes, I still had room to spare in my Delsey luggage. I won’t use luggage that doesn’t have the multi-way rollers, and this one just glided along, saving my wrists in the airport and on the quite bumpy New York streets. I was thinking of putting together a post on packing tips, is that something you all would be interested in? Let me know in the comments!

File Feb 17, 6 50 46 PM File Feb 17, 6 51 37 PMOne of our first stops, after what would become our daily visit to Jamba Juice inside Port Authority, was blowouts at Vidov Salon. My stylist was so quick, and I was intrigued by her technique.. These curls were created without using any additional tools beyond a round brush and blow dryer! I loved the soft, beachy waves, and they sent each of us off with a goodie bag, always appreciated, especially because I forgot my hairspray! I forgot a few other things too.. More on that later!

File Feb 17, 6 52 00 PM File Feb 17, 6 53 31 PM File Feb 17, 6 53 47 PM File Feb 17, 6 54 49 PM File Feb 17, 6 55 06 PM Next up on our tour of Manhattan haha, was the Eliza J showroom to check out their Spring/Summer 2018 collection. We all had our favorites, and I was definitely crushing on this yellow floral number. It had the sweetest bow detail at the bust, and I will be looking for it online soon. We chatted with the Eliza J sales and design team, and they are some of the sweetest souls! I love working with brands and people in general who are passionate about what they’re doing, and who make everyone feel welcome. It’s so important in this industry!
If you saw my Insta post on this look, you’ll know that the Madewell sweater I wore was not my favorite because it kept puffing up and was quite scratchy. I adored these faux leather leggings though, and my boots from Bala di Gala. The floral studs are stunning and you will definitely be seeing more of these babies in the near future.

File Feb 17, 6 57 56 PM File Feb 17, 6 58 48 PMOur next stop was to a photo shoot for Maggy London/London Times at GO Studios. We weren’t able to take many pictures because it was pretty fast-paced, but I managed to grab a shot of my model sheet (how cool is that!!), and a sneak of the stunning Danielle modeling on their rooftop with the gorgeous NY skyline as her backdrop. I will definitely be sharing more from the shoot when I get the selects back!

I love that in the last shot you can see my gloves precariously hanging there, foreshadowing what would be inevitable. I lost them while shopping at Anthropologie. This top from Rachel Rachel Roy was one of my favorite things I wore during my trip, and I loved how subtly sexy it was, showing a peak at my bra underneath, paired with faux leather leggings and a croc-embossed box handbag, along with my peacoat of course, because this night was freezing, like 26 degrees freezing. And to cap off the list of things I forgot, my pajamas did not make it in my suitcase. It ended up working out though, because my roommates kept the heater at 78 every night so I slept in a tank top!

Summer Sheath and New Hair

August 25, 2017

London Times Maxine Sheath DressHello, loves!
This may be the first you’re seeing it, but I recently chopped off over a foot of hair! Yes, I donated it, because that seems to be the first question that anyone asks, followed by “why the hell did you do that?” Short answer, I felt like I needed a change. Long hair is gorgeous, don’t get me wrong, but I felt like mine was so long that I never knew what to do with it. Styles would take forever, and usually fall out quickly because I had too much hair to do them properly, or be physically laborious (girls with superlong hair will understand the arm/neck/shoulder pain of trying to style 2.5 foot long locks after already spending 20 minutes blowdrying.. it’s an upper body workout!). So I was left with only curling it, or straightening it, because my air dry waves were not so beach chic due to their weight.
Let me take you back a little bit, to the time before last I visited my stylist. She greeted me with “Hey, what are we doing to you today? I had a dream last night that you chopped all of your hair off!,” which of course had me wanting to flee. But later on that day, I was watching Jane the Virgin and saw one of the actresses, Xiomara, with a super cute lob. I found a still online and I screenshot a pic to send to my stylist, with the caption “hey, if I did go shorter, how would this cut look on me?,” to overwhelmingly positive response. Honestly, I had completely forgotten about that conversation until I received her reminder text the day before my most recent appointment. Low and behold, 2 months later, that pic would serve as inspiration for this style you see today. Yes, it was impulsive, and yes, I realllllllly miss my hair. But I’m also having fun styling it and finding how much more versatile this shorter length is. More to come in the next post!
Moving on to this gorgeous sheath dress from London Times, it’s truly one of my favorites from the collection right now. I love the print mixing, the curve-hugging shape, and the black, white and red combo. It’s classy for work, but could totally transition easily to a going out look. To take it from office to restaurant, I’d throw on some black, thin-heeled ankle booties, a cocktail ring and a maybe a crystal choker, to bring a little glam.
