3 Ways to Wear a Maxi Dress in Winter

January 29, 2016

Most of us have maxi dresses in our wardrobe that when the cooler weather starts rolling around, they get pushed to the back of the closet or folded in to a box or bag and subjected to a lonely life in the garage until spring comes. I’ve come up with 3 ways to wear a maxi dress in winter so you can keep your favorites in rotation all year long!

DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 19 DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 14 DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 20This look is perfect for brunch with the girls or a day date.
Maxi / StitchFix // Denim jacket / Gap // Scarf / Layered by Cake // Boots / Nectar Clothing // Necklace / Gorjana // Sunnies / Amazon

DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 23DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 25DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 33I love this look for a date night when you want to look cute but still feel bundled up. Adding a satin ribbon over the cardigan allows for my waist to not be lost under the fabric.
Maxi / StitchFix // Sweater / LeTote // Necklace / J.Crew // Flats / Sole Society // Clutch / Scarlet Threads Consignment

DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 11 DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 9 DFT- Lincoln Shrine Picks - 7I love this casual look for shopping, running errands, or just hanging out! You can take any button-down, tie it up and tuck it under to add another layer and still highlight your waist.
Maxi / StitchFix // Button-down / Old Navy // Clutch (actually a shoulder bag with the straps removed) / Cambridge Satchel Company // Sneaks / Target

I hope this post gave you some great ideas on how to style your favorite maxi dress, even when it’s not 90 degrees out 😉

Subtle Stripes with Ruby Accents

January 2, 2016

DFT- Caroline Favorites - 92Well hello, loves!
I wanted to share with you two companies I’ve been loving working with recently… StitchFix & Rocksbox. Stitchfix is a type of styling service that sends you 5 items they think you may like based on very extensive surveys and questions about your style, body shape, etc. After receiving the package, you figure out what you like, and send back the rest within 3 days of arrival. If you buy everything in the box, like I did last time, you get 25% off your total order! That usually means getting a free item and a % off another. This striped, super soft sweater was in my last box, and I knew I would get so much use out of it this winter. I’ve been adoring the pairing of stripes and leopard, and the scales of these particular prints work so well together 🙂 If you’re interested in signing up, feel free to use my link here 😉
On to Rocksbox, the designer jewelry subscription service that sends you 3 items at a time to wear to your heart’s content, then send all of them back or keep what you like at a discounted price. My first box included this gorgeous ruby crystal necklace, a hammered gold “X” ring (which you’ll see in my next post), and a double-layered delicate chain necklace with a tiny, rhinestone-covered sphere. It’s only $19 a month, and if you sign up here using my code dressedfortimexoxo, you get your first month free!

Holiday Party Look : Striped Dress

December 21, 2015

DFT- Caroline Favorites - 20Hello loves!
I hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend. I’ve just come back from brunch with a few of my favorite people and the tipsiness has mostly worn off by now. I love that we have the tradition of meeting up every year around this time, exchanging gifts and stories and so much laughter. Even though we all have so much going on in our lives, we manage to find one afternoon where we can all get together and I think that’s so special. I’m one of those people who consider my friends as family, and I treasure them all so much!
Sorry for getting sappy for a minute there!
Let’s get back to fashion, shall we? This second party look is featuring a super versatile dress from Layered by Cake. It can easily be worn with heels and a statement necklace and little jacket, or as I’ve shown here, with print flats and a lightweight trench. I wanted to keep the look pretty simple, so I paired it with some delicate gold jewelry, a luxe little vintage handbag, and a bow belt to accent my waist and add some interest.

Floaty Vest & LBD

December 10, 2015

DFT Prospect Prospects 209I have a confession to make… I don’t get vests. Or, I guess I should say, I “didn’t” get vests. They’ve always been kind of a mystery to me. They don’t really add any warmth, I personally think puffer vests are highly unattractive, and if they’re printed, it’s a whole other story with what to pair them with! My thoughts have changed a bit since I found this floaty little piece. Fitting in completely with my personal style mantra of “a little feminine, a little edgy,” this third piece is fantastic for adding some interest to an otherwise unremarkable LBD. I’d also pair it with a tank and skinny jeans, or a white t-shirt an black pencil skirt. Lots of options here! So I guess opinions can change, as long as it’s the right match!
