A Walk in the Park

January 17, 2016

Hooded2 Hello loves!
I hope this post finds you thriving in this sometimes daunting part of the new year! Resolutions have been made, lifestyle changes have begun to take place, and I wish for everyone a happy and healthy month. I’ve been attempting (mostly successfully) to channel a lot of my stress into committing to the 21 day fix/Beachbody program. I was introduced to the plan by Shannon at Layered by Cake, who connected me with my coach, Caitlyn (also the winner of our #weekwithoutjeanschallege). I met up with Caitlyn to deliver her prize, we ended up chatting for hours, and I discovered that she was involved with a lifestyle company called BeachBody.
I’ve been on the fix for 20 days now and will be taking a few days break before starting up again. I really feel like it’s a great way to get on a healthy, fit track. I have so much more energy, my clothes have been fitting more loosely, I feel stronger, and it actually does make me feel good to know that I’m doing something great for my body! Shakeology is hella expensive, but I love it mixed I with spinach and fruit (especially mango & strawberries or peanut butter and frozen cherries, yum!) in the morning for a nice energizing boost and the knowledge that I’ve gotten in a fruit, a vegetable & a protein before I even leave the house!
Whatever methods you use for creating a healthier lifestyle, I hope you have fun and enjoy discovering new ways of allowing yourself to feel better! 😀

Holiday Party Look : Casual Glam

December 16, 2015

DFT- Caroline Favorites - 62
Hello loves!
I’ve put together 3 festive looks for this holiday season that I think are ideal for any kind of party you get invited to… A house party, dinner with friends, drinks on NYE, any place where good times are being had!
This first look is for a more casual get-together, and I would totally wear it to a New Years Day brunch or to a laid back party at a friend’s house. I love that it’s comfy, will keep you warm, but still looking in-the-moment with some sparkly accessories. I’ve also been gravitating towards less fussy looks for the holidays. Anyone can throw on a sparkly dress and heels and call it a day, but a little restraint can also be nice.

If you’re interested in signing up for Le Tote, feel free to use my link here. I do get compensation when you sign up, but I wouldn’t recommend spending money on services and products I didn’t love, so you can know you’re getting your money’s worth.

Mini Florals & Knee-High Boots

December 9, 2015

DFT Prospect Prospects02Well, hello loves!
I hope everyone is doing well and keeping mostly sane around these crazy holiday times. Mark and I braved Costco AND Sam’s Club yesterday and managed to get out of there relatively unscathed (and spent under $100!). I saw a lot of folks stressed out and I wanted to tell them to just calm down and enjoy this time. The holidays for me have never been about “winning” or who has the best of something, or even worse, who got the best gifts. It’s about family, friends, awesome food, relaxing and fun times!

Now for the outfit, because you knew I would get there eventually.. haha! I’ve had this floral print dress for maybe a decade and I seem to only wear it in the fall because I think it works so well paired with rich cognac and ruby tones. Dark florals are one of my favorite trends this year, because they are the perfect blend of feminine and edgy, kind of what I’m all about 😉

Playful Plaid

October 31, 2015

DFT Centennial Plaza Choices15 (1)I’m so excited to bring to the blog another look featuring designs from Layered by Cake boutique!
Shannon (LBC’s owner and stylist), and I met for the first time at an event I was volunteering at, Scarlet Threads Boutique. I noticed right away her great fashion sense and energy, but after speaking with her for an hour or so, I learned of her beautiful passion for wanting to help women discover the power of great style. It’s great working with local small business-owners, and Shannon has such a great eye for what will be on-trend but not “trendy” for the season.
When she asked me to stop by and pick out some of my favorite looks to photograph for Dressed for Time, I was immediately drawn to this plaid button-down. The mix of navy, peach and baby blue was unexpected, yet a no-brainer. When it gets a bit cooler, I would button it up and pair it with this navy cardigan, a belt, and a heavier jacket on top.
