February Stitch Fix

February 27, 2017

February Stitch Fix - Floral Top and Cropped Frayed DenimHello, loves!
I present to you my February Stitch Fix! This month, I requested some lovely Spring-y items, something floral print (obviously), a light layering piece, and another pair of jeans. There was a bit of a mix up with my jean size, because in the last fix the uber-stretchy pants I bought I exchanged for a smaller size, so my stylist also sized down the not-so-stretchy jeans in this fix. They were WAY too snug, even to get past my thighs. Read on to see the rest of my February Stitch Fix!

I was super excited to take this black lace top out of the box, and was OBSESSED with the intricate detail on the sleeves. When I put it on, however, I felt it was quite boxy and just a touch short on me. It was a fantastic price, but I knew I didn’t feel comfortable in it.
Blouse, $44, returned.

February Stitch Fix - Cardigan, Scarf and Jeans February Stitch Fix - Scarf, Jeans and SneakersCardigan & Jeans (MaviUSA from a previous fix) // Stitch Fix //Scarf / H&M // Necklace / LA find // Tank / Everlane // Sneakers / Old Navy
This was my “light layering piece” that I had requested. I have to say, I was not impressed with this piece. The material was a chintzy waffle weave, and paired with the color, I felt like I should be headed off in the minivan to go pick up the kids at soccer practice. It was reasonably priced, but I couldn’t find many things to pair it with to keep it fresh and exciting, because this piece is far from exciting 🙁
Cardigan, $48, returned.

February Stitch Fix - Coffee & Rainy Days T and Army Jacket February Stitch Fix - T Shirt, Jeans, and FlatsT-shirt / Stitch Fix // Jacket / JcPenney (similar) // Jeans / MaviUSA // Flats / Sole Society // Choker / gifted
Haha, I feel like such a flasher in these pictures! That aside, I really did like the look and feel of this shirt. I love cute little saying t’s, however.. I live in Southern California and am highly sensitive to caffeine, soooo it feels a little disingenuous for me. Plus, I thought about the drawer full of t’s I never reach for so I knew it had to go back.
T-shirt, $34, returned.

February Stitch Fix - Floral Top, Cropped Denim and Bow Flats February Stitch Fix - Spring Floral OutfitBlouse & Jeans (Just Black Denim from a previous fix) // Heels / Ivanka Trump (similar) // Necklace c/o The Giving Keys // Bracelets / LA finds
I can’t tell you how happy I was to take this blouse out of the box, right before Valentine’s Day, so I would have something pretty to wear that day! It fit well, and I was obsessed with the print, so it was a no-brainer to hold on to it.
Blouse, $54, kept.

February Stitch Fix - Distressed JeansJeans / Stitch Fix
If these bad boys had fit, they would have been a definite keeper, and may have even inspired me to keep the rest of the lot. They were SOOOO infinitely small, allowing me to only get them up to my thighs. Not even my upper thighs, like my lower thighs. This is why I didn’t exchange them for a larger size, because I’m pretty sure upsizing wouldn’t have helped. A girl with curves like me needs some stretch in her jeans, you know what I mean?
Jeans, $54, returned.

All in all, I probably could have kept everything, but I’m trying to only bring in items I know I will get tons of use out of, and not all of these pieces spoke to me on that level. From my February Stitch Fix, I only kept the floral blouse, and I’m so happy with it.
For my next fix, I’ve requested another light layering piece, more florals, lace, and a white or navy crossbody bag. I can’t wait to see what my stylist picks!

Ombre Blouse & Wedges

February 20, 2017

Ombre Blouse & WedgesHello loves! And hello, weekend vibes, haha!
I’m milking this long weekend for all it’s worth. On Friday, we made dinner at home and food prepped a bit. Yesterday, I left Mark to his own devices and headed to LA with my mom for the CA Gift Show and LA Mart. It’s basically where we go twice a year to see all of the latest trends in jewelry and find a few fun things for ourselves. Ok, sometimes more than a few!
I do have to work tomorrow but Mark doesn’t, so we’re hanging out tonight making dinner and cleaning without a care in the world! I was definitely feeling those casual weekend vibes when we shot this look. I found this top when I was randomly shopping for bralettes one day on Aerie.com, and came across this fun, relaxed style, from Aerie’s sister brand, American Eagle. I loved that it has a super flattering drape to it, and also a bit of sexiness with the straps across the chest. I loved it so much, I also bought it in black and mauve! The material is just the softest, and bonus, it was only $12 on clearance! They currently only have grey and burgundy stripe available, and for $30 (still not a bad deal) but AE is frequently offering 40% off codes, and don’t forget to use eBates for an additional 4% off!

I’d love to know, if you don’t have to go to work tomorrow, what are you doing with the extra day off? Relaxing or getting up to anything fun?

January Stitch Fix

February 15, 2017

January Stitch FixMy goodness, loves, it’s already the middle of February! One day, I will catch up on these, I swear. We just shot the fix for this month, so I should be able to have that up in a week or so. With everything getting away from me during the end of last year, beginning of this year, I didn’t have a moment to reach out to my stylist to request certain things, so it was all kind of up in the air for December and January! Which isn’t always a bad thing, as, spoiler alert, I ended up keeping everything from January’s fix, except for a defective item, more on that later. Read on to check out the rest of my January Stitch Fix!

January Stitch Fix January Stitch FixSweater, scarf & pants / Stitch Fix // Booties / Target
Loved this scarf as soon as I took it out of the box! The colors (baby blue, navy, and merlot), were so unique to me and it is SO soft. I paired it with this elbow-patch sweater and burgundy sateen pants from the fix. The pants were too large, so I ended up exchanging them for a smaller size. The sweater, I thought, was honestly hideous. It clung in all of the wrong places, was baggy in others, and the patches came down almost to my wrists when my arms were at my sides. I wrote Stitch Fix before cashing out to let them know the conundrum and they extended to me a one time courtesy of the 25% discount for keeping only 4 of the items, since I believed one of them to be defective.
Scarf, $28, kept; pants, $68, kept; sweater, $58, returned (defective).

January Stitch Fix January Stitch FixCardigan / Stitch Fix // Tank / Everlane // Leggings / Target // Slip-Ons / ASOS (similar)
I’ve been trying to find a way to rock the athleisure trend without feeling like a slob, and this outfit pretty much got me there. The lace-up ballet-inspired leggings paired with the open cardigan could easily take me from a tea date with a girlfriend to yoga to the grocery store. I’ve also worn it over a tank top to work, so this cardi definitely has versatility.
Cardigan, $48 kept.

January Stitch Fix January Stitch Fix Wrap blouse (worn as a blazer) / Stitch Fix // Top / Nordstrom Rack (similar) // Jeans / Just Black from a previous fix (similar) // Flats / Vince Camuto (similar) // Necklace / My French Farm
I think this “blazer” was my favorite piece from the fix. It can be paired with an LBD, blouse and pants or a tank and jeans. When I tried to button it, it had this weird bunching around the chest but it wasn’t too snug, so I just decided to wear it open.

So all in all, a great fix. I actually wore the floral blazer to work earlier this week and the pants in another look recently, so I’m definitely getting the most out of these items. I hope you enjoyed my January Stitch Fix, until next time! 😀

Floral Bomber and Dark Denim

December 14, 2016

Floral Bomber and Dark Denim - Full Fall Look

Hello, loves!
I wanted to talk a little bit today about New Year’s resolutions. Not the life-changing, quit my job, pay off all my bills (although both would be nice), type of notions, but style resolutions. Over the years, I’ve amassed a whole lot of “fast-fashion” pieces. Some of which, I’ve worn to death, like my black Chelsea ankle boots from Forever 21 or my work blouses from H&M. What I’ve realized over time, though, is that the pieces that are overly trendy, loud prints, don’t fit quite right or are uncomfortable, etc., I rarely wear. Not only does this create a lot of clutter, but it also made me think about the money I’m spending and the extra things I’m bringing in to my home (and closet) that I don’t love. Maybe it’s a little bit of Marie Kondo sneaking in, but a wardrobe detox seems to be in order.
For this upcoming year, I’d like to focus on bringing in not only things that I love in the moment, but things I’ll love next year, and the next, and downsizing the items I don’t wear often enough (or at all). I’m not going to give up on shopping at Zara, ASOS and their ilk entirely, because I do need to continue buying work clothes and basics at reasonable price points, but I’m going to be much more selective on how I fill my closet. Everlane makes some of the best basics around, and I’d love to weed out some of my fading tees and tanks to transition over to more well-made pieces from their line, like the basic black tank I’m wearing here.
I’d also love to set a style budget for myself. When I add up how much I’ve spent over the past year (or 10!) on things I wear, the numbers are staggering! It makes me think of how many fun things I could have done instead with that money. No looking back though, only forward! A detailed closet edit is already in the works, so many things will soon be added to my Poshmark account, and I’m tempted to initiate the “1 thing in, 1 thing out” rule, to keep my hoarding in check.

I’d love to know, what are your style resolutions for the New Year?
