Walt Disney Concert Hall OOTN

May 11, 2015

While trying to decide what we wanted to do for Cinco de Mayo, it flashed in my head that we’d already purchased tickets for Brahms with Bronfman at the Walt Disney Concert Hall! I wanted to keep the evening somewhat festive for Cinco, and found the most amazing restaurant, Pez Cantina, right down the street. They had tons of specials for the occasion, great service, and incredible food. Mark was kind enough to grab a few shots of my outfit and our surroundings throughout the evening. Such a good night 😀

We were pretty obsessed with the food at Pez Cantina. We took advantage of their special menu, ordering the ceviche tostada, beer-battered fish tacos, chorizo queso fundito with made-in-house corn tortillas, shrimp and avocado taquitos and al pastor tacos.

Inside and outside the gorgeous Frank Gehry-designed building. We walked around the seemingly endless walkways and staircases and found some gorgeous views of the city.
Perfect night! 😀

Artisanal LA with OOTD

May 4, 2015

I swear, I should live in LA for how many events I end up attending in the area! Last weekend, we went to the Artisanal LA expo, this weekend, the Gluten Free Expo, and day after tomorrow, Mark and I will be going to a concert at the Disney Concert Hall. Since I’m a smidgen behind in posting, ahem, I will first share photos from last weekend. Artisanal LA is a collection of vendors selling everything from pickled veggies to freshly charred s’mores to vintage dresses and potted succulents. We picked up several goodies, like spicy green beans, ancho chili and tamarind sauce, small-batch chocolates, and of course, I grabbed a couple of things from the vintage clothing pop-up shop. Below, some highlights from the show…

The handsome boyfriend and I. I wanted to wear something spring-y but super comfy knowing that we would be walking for a significant part of the day.

It was pretty awesome watching our s’mores being made. I seriously want to own a brulee torch now.

OMG. So good. The one on the right.. has bacon!

Gorgeous, simple bouquets.

A little shoefie, stopping off at Anthropologie. No purchases were made here, but my eyes were darting everywhere at the thought of 20% off all dresses!

Next stop was the Farmer’s Market. Being faced with the difficult decision of where to eat, we finally decided on The Gumbo Pot, a creole spot serving up gumbo, jambalaya, and my pick, softshell crab po boys. For dessert, we had to try the beignets, which unfortunately, were not as fluffy as I prefer so we decided to give the other two to an adorable older couple who were sitting next to us. They seemed to enjoy them! 😀

LA Travel Magazine Spring Release Party

April 27, 2015

Last weekend, I was invited to the spring release of LA Travel magazine at Supperclub LA. I had no idea what to expect, other than a fun night filled with music, dancing, and celebrating another issue of a great publication.
First, my outfit for the evening!
IMG_0332 IMG_0330
I was OBSESSED with this Badgley Mischka dress as soon as I took it out of the Rent the Runway bag! It’s quite heavy and I was worried about not being able to wear it with a bra, as it has a large cutout in the back, but it worked out perfectly!

IMG_1437
I loved this guy. He was so funny and theatrical, and eventually worked his entire body into that blue balloon!
IMG_1430
The setup at Supperclub took me a bit of getting used to, but I ended up really liking the bed-like lounging areas. It was very cush and comfortable and can seat a lot of people, which is always a nice reprieve from dancing.
IMG_1452
I ran in to these beautiful people again, looking as lovely as ever and so kind! From left is Tom Sandoval, Katie Mahoney, me, the boyfriend, and Tom Schwartz. I used to be fixated on their reality show, Vanderpump Rules, before I canceled my service provider so I was only able to catch the first 2 seasons, but it was such a guilty pleasure. Yes, it was drama and fighting, but that aside it was also the inner workings of a restaurant and frequent glamorous photo shoots and group trips to envy.
IMG_1450
I was also able to catch up a bit with Kyle Chan, one of my favorite jewelry designers. He’s such a nice guy, and I can’t wait to visit him at the upcoming Unique LA show!

IMG_1492The glossy, finished product hot off the presses! This magazine features some great articles, highlighting fun things to do in AND out of LA, lots of fantastic restaurants and hot spots to visit.

Simply Stylist LA

April 8, 2015

This post is definitely a bit delayed in going up, but here it finally is!
Due to some short notice and a less-than-flexible work schedule, I was only able to get off at 1 pm, to make it to the “cocktail hour” section of the Simply Stylist LA event. What I missed, and will certainly plan ahead for next time around, is the blogger brunch, featuring some of the industry’s top bloggers, and several expert panels, touching on everything blogging-related.
I made it there just in time to take a brief lap around the “brand experience” set-up, which I must say, I wasn’t thrilled with.. The lines were excessive, about 30 ladies in each waiting for one of two hairstylists, and one manicurist… There were so many people waiting for pizza and drinks, I didn’t bother with them because I knew I didn’t want to be late for the speakers upstairs at Morels!

IMG_1055
The first speaker was the delightful and eloquent Calli Cholodenko, a social media expert. She spoke on timing, photo filters, hashtags, brand transparency and consistency in posts. I took over a page of notes and learned so much!
Next up was one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Jenny Bernheim of Margo & Me! I’ve always loved her feminine, yet eclectic style, and she’s so adorable with her petite frame and that hair! OK, I’ll cease with the girl crushing momentarily to say how much I enjoyed her time at the mic as well. She also spoke of consistency in blog posts, monetization, and staying true to your personal style and brand. I was able to grab her for a brief chat downstairs and she was very humble and gave me some great tips 🙂

IMG_1130
I mean, seriously, how cute is her outfit!? Loved those shoes…
Since the boyfriend was able to join me for this trip out to the Grove, we decided to treat ourselves to a little meal at Bar Verde inside of Nordstrom.

IMG_1119
We stopped in to Banana Republic where I fell in love with some of their suede heels, but I restrained, knowing they are frequently on sale online… I did find these two gorgeous pieces of jewelry that I had to grab.. Each were in the clearance section for under $20 (hello, good deal!) and I will get so much use out them (pictured with a could of recent lip products from Planet Beauty.)

Sounds like a dare to me.

The rule-breaker in me had to check out this view and snap a few shots.
