Fall Florals Button Maxi Dress

Hello, beauties!
I know you may be thinking, “Hey, does that dress look familiar?” Well, you’d be right, because this is a very similar style to a dress that I wore recently, just in a slightly different and more fall-tastic color palette. I was so in love with the first style I bought, I wanted to see what other patterns it came in.. Turns out, the answer is – a lot! Just about 35 variations on the same dress, and I’ve got my eye on at least 2 others for fall. The length is perfect on me, (I’m 5’7″), the material is slightly stretchy and lightweight without being transparent, and the button-details, although a pain in the ass the first time you close them all up, look so pretty spanning the front of the dress.
I can say that without a doubt that my mentality of “If you find something you like, buy it in multiple colors” came from my mom. As a young teenager, it was pretty difficult to find clothing in my size that was actually cute, so when my mom took me shopping and I found something that fit, she would encourage me to find every variation they offered! So sometimes, I would come home with 3 butterfly-print maxi skirts with different colored backgrounds. It’s been a little difficult to break that mentality EVERY time I go shopping haha, but a girl has to set a budget eventually!

Home is Where the Field Is

Hey babes!
I don’t know about you but.. I’m obsessed with football. It’s always been my favorite sport to watch, and even though I did enjoy a basketball game or two growing up, my heart has always been with football. I can recall watching games with my dad, both college and pro, as far back as I can remember. Now that I’m all grown up, I not only watch the games every Thursday, Sunday and Monday (whew!!), but I’m also in a fantasy league. Not to toot my own horn, but I’ve won my league 2 out of the past 3 years! It’s fun to feel like you have a little bit of a stake in the games, more so than just cheering for your favorite teams. Mine was the San Diego Chargers for the longest time, but since the switch to LA, I’m sorry to say, it just doesn’t feel the same!

My attire for the game is shifting as well, especially since I don’t necessarily feel like I have a designated team anymore, and rarely reach for my jerseys or team-specific t-shirts. I was so excited to find this top from Perfectly Priscilla Boutique, which is as comfy as it is cute! I love the “Home is Where the Field is” message, and the forgiving fit that won’t show if I’ve had a beer or two, or shared a plate of chicken tenders during halftime.

Mixing Denim

Hello, loves!
It’s National Wine Day, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t currently sipping on some Syrah right now. Red wine has longtime been a favorite of mine, and after the day I had, I was planning on coming home to a glass (or two), after work regardless of the “holiday”. Whew, it was bonkers today at the urgent care. It seemed that people today were especially grumpy, in a hurry, and overall so rude! Thankfully, I was working with someone who has a wonderful sense of humor, so we were doing our best to take things in stride.
Moving on to spring fashion, I wanted to talk about some of my favorite denim pairings! I’m wearing here one example of mixing denim, colored bottoms with a jean jacket. The look is playful, casual, and great for this weather. A fun outfit for spring and going in to summer is a white denim top or bottom mixed with a faded denim piece. I love the idea of a little pale blue denim skirt paired with a white tank and white denim jacket.
Another classic look is to pair a lighter chambray-like button-down with slightly darker jeans. I love how simple it is, but give a pulled-together vibe. With sandals or a pair of sneakers, it’s casual for brunch, and with shiny heels and a bold necklace, it’s perfect for a not-too-fancy date night.
I used to be so scared of mixing denim, for fear of that dreaded “NOT” label that some magazines used to put on the overly loose (or tight), same color outfits of the past, but I think starting off with two completely different colors is a perfect “gateway” outfit. Here’s to conquering fashion fears and exploring new ways of styling!

Fall Vibes

There are a few things for me that give off those quintessential fall vibes… Colors of mustard, burgundy, and cognac; nubby textures of corduroy, soft knits in the form of open cardigans, scarves and slouchy caps; knee-high boots to keep out the new chill in the air. It’s finally starting to look like we can begin wearing these items in southern California! It’s actually been raining on and off today, which, totally random side note, makes people in my area drive soooooo slow. Like 10 under the speed limit slow, I was almost late to work today!
If you happened to read my latest Stitch Fix review, you may have seen that these corduroy pants were not exactly love at first sight, that was until I tried them on. They’re so soft, provide a whole lot of warmth, and the color is much more versatile than I initially thought it would be.
