Throwback Thursday

I knew I wanted to wear this fluid ASOS maxi skirt for this shoot but when I started styling it, I found myself gravitating towards a look I’d seen many times before.. Pretty much what was hot amongst fashion bloggers a year ago! The Old Navy cutesy quote t-shirt, the statement necklace, and the sequined clutch. I realized I’d never gotten in on the fun and posted a look of my own!

Besides being comfortable and a bit cheeky (ha!), this look even has a hint of sex appeal, thanks to a thigh-high slit in the skirt. I don’t mind that it’s not the freshest or trendiest ensemble out there because it’s still cute and perfect for a Sunday brunch, which is exactly where I wore it after these pictures were shot 😉

Geometric Wrap Dress and JC Wedges

I thought I would finally share an outfit on here before letting it loose on Instagram! This cute little get-up was worn to a dinner with my photographer and then a short stroll around town.

The dress, necklace, and clutch were all found at Scarlet Threads Consignment sale, the event I volunteer and sell at. The total for the three was less than $30! The shoes, however, were purchased along with several other things during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I saw one of my favorite bloggers, Alyson Haley at Sequins and Things, wearing them and she had mentioned how comfortable they are. I did not find that to be the case, and have since returned them (and am still recovering from all of the blisters!)

Rent the Runway Gowns

I recently received word from Rent the Runway that they wanted me to pick any two dresses off the site to enjoy and take some pictures.. And let me start by saying that it was not an easy task! RTR offers hundreds of gorgeous dresses ranging in formality from poolside hanging to Oscar party. I went with a couple of fancier choices, as I don’t often have the occasion to wear gowns, so why not!

Overall, this dress fit me perfectly, everywhere except the length! I would have been happier if it was maybe 2-3″ longer. I believe they do offer this dress in a longer length, and in that case, it would be extraordinary for a fancy holiday party.

Next up, was this gorgeous and surprisingly comfortable ruby red gown from Badgley Mischka. It flowed so beautifully as I walked and I almost didn’t want to take it off! I actually ended up wearing it out to dinner with the boyfriend after this shoot!

I will of course disclose that Rent the Runway sent these dresses to me to wear at no cost. I have been using their services for over a year now, and am a member of their Unlimited membership program. More on that here. Any time I’ve had any type of issue (from a dress that doesn’t fit to shipping delays), their customer service associates have always been incredible. Their selection is amazing, as I mentioned, and includes day-to-day and date night pieces, along with those drop-dead-gorgeous gowns.

Peach Blouse and Skinny Black Pants

Another work look, featuring one of my favorite throw-it-on-and-go blouses from H&M. I would say that on average, my base outfit 3-4x a week includes these black skinny pants and a black tank and some form of a sheer top to complete the ensemble. It’s just so easy and slimming! A couple of pieces of gold jewelry and I was good to go.
