Casual Boho Style with Ellie & Adair

May 23, 2017

Casual Boho Style with Ellie & AdairYou guys, this top.. It’s giving me all of the casual boho feels! It’s currently on sale right now at Ellie & Adair, and if you use code “VIP15”, it’s under $25!!
I’ve found that my style is constantly evolving, and is quite difficult to pin down in words, but I think that there are definitely hints of boho chic that work their way into my looks quite frequently. From floaty dresses to crochet and embellished touches, to layers of mismatched necklaces, I love infusing a bit of that carefree look into my style.
Elements of boho style can be found in many of the on-trend items for spring and summer, such as fringe, embroidery, and tassels, along with textures of crochet and raffia. I’m loving a light cardigan with embroidered patches, a breezy maxi dress with a crochet-back, and the top here, adorned with fun tassels that tie in to a bow to play with the look a bit.

BohoCheri Summer Lookbook

July 21, 2016

Hi, loves!
I’ve been shopping at BohoCheri for a little while, and we’ve worked together on small projects here and there, but I was SO elated when they asked me to model for their summer lookbook! It’s just this surreal feeling to be taking pictures in clothes you are accustomed to seeing on the racks of your favorite local boutique and then being able to share them with you all here! So, without further ado, some of my favorite shots from the BohoCheri Summer Lookbook…

One thing I adore about this boutique is that it’s a mix of well-priced basics (leggings, jeans and tanks), along with lovely printed dresses and caftans (my favorites from Pool to Party and Jen’s Pirate Booty), off-shoulder blouses and cropped tops, but they also have one-of-a-kind pieces from local artists and designers. A couple of the standouts which I’ve brought home with me are delicate gold bead & stone necklaces from Elysian & Grace and hand-sewn leather wrap bracelets from Ronnie M Jewelry.
I love that walking in to the store, it will look completely different than the last time I was in (even if that happens to be last week!), and I never know what I’m going to find. I think owner Cheri’s attention to detail and her fantastic and friendly staff are a part of what makes this spot so unique. Cheri’s eye for curating items for the store is so on-point and on-trend, I know I’m always going to walk in and find something I’m in love with and can’t go home without.
BohoCheri is currently a brick-and-mortar location with an inspiration-filled Instagram feed, but we’ll be continuing to shoot content for the soon-to-be-live website, so everything will be shopable!

I’d love to hear about your favorite local boutique and what makes it special!

Belted Maxi Dress and Wedges

May 3, 2016

Belted Maxi Dress and WedgesHi loves!
I have to say, I’m loving this BohoCheri belted maxi dress and wedges from DVF! The wedges are amazingly comfortable for how high they are and I’ve literally gone the whole day in them, running errands around town. Height and comfort, not to mention they’re super cute, it’s the best of all worlds! The dress is fun too because it has a beaded neckline for a little added interest up top, but also the hi-lo hemline allows it to flow beautifully behind me when I walk. Love!
I know that this is perhaps not the most sexy of topics to be discussing but today I wanted to talk about caring for your feet during summer. It is SO important to take extra special care of your feet in the warmer weather, not only for your health, but also because you’ll be showing them off a lot more! They can get all kinds of nasty, being held captive and sweaty in sneakers, being dragged across the bottom of swimming pools, etc.
The first thing I want to recommend is professional maintenance. I think it is important to get a pedicure by a professional nail tech at least once a  month. You can do it yourself for financial reasons, but I always feel that technicians are a lot more diligent and really get in there, as opposed to me who will just stop when it tickles haha.
Next, is to remove your polish in-between pedis. This step is crucial because it’s necessary to put down another strengthening/hardening coat often so that the chemicals from the colored polish doesn’t seep in and start eating away at the enamel of your nails. I learned this the hard way recently when I went to the nail salon and after my old polish was removed came an (informative) lecture about why my nails looked the way that they did.. They were slightly yellowed, and had little white flecks in them! Sooo not attractive, and I had no idea how harmful it was to leave polish on for a couple of months, by just being lazy and refreshing dark polish when it started to chip. He ended up having to sand down a couple of my nails to get them on the road back to good condition.
Along the topic of home maintenance, there are several other things that I would recommend keeping up on. I am obsessed with my Amope electronic foot file that I purchased off of Amazon a couple months back. I use the regular coarse type, but they also offer an extra coarse. This file is crazy efficient, and it’s both gross and riveting to use. You start rolling it around in the areas where you’re experiencing some dead skin or calluses (I typically reach for this once a week) and it just eats away at them, causing the skin to turn to dust and fly in to the air. I wish it was like a ped-egg, and it just collected in to a little well that was easy to dispose of, but no, the particles pretty much just float away. Like I said, gross. But so effective! After I use the file, I’ll apply some lotion. The other at-home item I definitely recommend having on-hand is a rich cream made for especially for feet. My favorite is the Set N Me Free (cheesy name, but whatever, it works!)  Foot & Callus Rub. It contains menthol, so it makes my feet tingle! Right before bed, I’ll rub in about a nickel-sized dollop on each foot, cover them with socks and head to bead. If you can’t stand to sleep with socks on, another option is to apply it just after getting out of the shower, when it’s easier to penetrate skin.
I hope this post has been informative and have fun showing off those pretty feet!
😀

Date Night BohoChic

March 15, 2016

Date Night BohoChic
Hello loves!
Sad news to report… Mark and I were still so sick over the weekend that we had to miss the Natural Products West Expo 🙁 yesterday. I haven’t missed this event since I started attending, I believe 7 years ago! It’s where I learn about all of the amazing new products from natural skincare brands, tasty organic food, and exciting new makeup lines.
Since I was unable to attend this year, I had my proxy, my mother, stop by all of the beauty brands and report back! She owns a gift basket business, so she was also there checking out things for her store, but was kind enough to grab some palettes, skincare items, and lip colors for me to review. As soon as I’ve tested everything out, I will definitely be posting my thoughts and pictures on here!
Today’s look is a perfect mix of laid-back and glammed up. I’m loving airy, crossover blouses and ripped-knee jeans for summer, and paired with slick black accessories, this outfit is taken from pretty casual to date-night worthy. The lower neckline is the perfect backdrop to highlight this gorgeous lariat necklace from Gorjana, by way of Rocksbox. In case you haven’t heard, Rocksbox is a monthly subscription service that sends you 3 designer jewelry pieces for only $19 a month. So far, I’ve received everything from statement necklaces covered in crystals, to delicate gold layering rings, to geometric cuff bracelets. If you decide to sign up, use the code dressedfortimexoxo for your first month free.
Also, be sure to check out the giveaway that I’m co-hosting here on the blog, there’s still plenty of time to enter!
